It's been a while since we last sent out an email. Far too long.
The goats are doing fine, still, and we are awaiting 2 more to give birth in the coming weeks. One, with perfect timing, is saving herself for Christmas Day, and the second I'm sure is determined to do the same for New Year... Baldr, the little monster that survived his traumatic birth, is doing great and is now outside with his sister, mother and aunts. Snövit, his mother, has also recovered amazingly from her surgery and doesn't look the train wreck that she did in the aftermath. The weather here is Sweden is now changing, after a month of tremendous amounts of rain, finally the weather is getting colder. The National Forest up at Söderåsen is magnificent - the frosts make the place a true winter wonderland. http://gallery.alledal.nu/v/Malmo/Dec2007/ At home I'm finally back for a month or so, after a two week stint in Saudi followed by a week in Germany. It's good to be home! Our home is now more and more like home, and we've made the first major change to the house itself. The heating controls have been ripped out and replaced with kit from the company I work for. It really is eat your own dog food, here... The plan is to lop off more from the energy usage and at the same time make the environment in the home more pleasant, with better control of the heating. So far it's going well. http://www.alledal.nu/content/view/67/1/lang,en/ In previous emails I've said about the saga of getting the car from the UK onto Swedish plates. I thought the day would never happen, but finally - after 17 months of trying - the plates have arrived, and they are being fitted. Hurrah! We're looking forward to our Christmas break, not so much for the fact it's going to be a break because the reality is it's a chance for us to catch up with things around the farm. There is a long list of things to sort, and I'm sure the list will be even longer by the time we knock a few of them off. So from us here at Alledal, have a great holiday season, and we hope to hear from some of you soon. Due to better than expected demand of visitors to the websites we've had to move to a bigger more powerful server that's all our own. That makes things a bit easier for us to control! The photo galleries at http://gallery.alledal.nu have more photos uploaded, and the main website will get some more things soon... You might want to check out Nigel's personal blog at http://www.randoms-lair.co.uk for some of his thoughts on Sweden. Me? I'm getting ready for the 21 types of pickled herring next week, and breaking open a bottle of aquavit... Best wishes, Stephen |
