The interesting thing is how close we actually got to reaching our target.

We got to a respectable 4945 Kg of CO2, only 11% over our target.

The interesting things are that when we bought the old Passat in late September it obviously wasn't in the best state of health - a few doses of engine cleaner & new oil and the consumption came right down. The chances are that if we'd done that sooner we may have actually met our target.

For the year we bought a carbon allowance of 3.6 tonnes, thinking the second car would need it, so our net CO2 contributions are 1.3 tonnes. Not bad for a first attempt. The aim for the next year is to meet the target, and try and lower it further. Things such as converting the car to run on E85 are a possibility.
