Spring has well and truly arrived in Skåne, and here in Billinge the trees are bursting into leaf, the flowers are appearing in the garden and fields, and the number of animals on the farm is rapidly increasing... Since the last update we have had a lot of new arrivals.
The first of the spring arrivals is the chicks from our Genebank registered Blommehöns. They are now over a month old, and growing up into healthy chicks. From the 13 eggs we incubated 12 hatched - we think only 3 are cockerels.
The next arrivals are the Swedish Muscovy Ducks, known here as Myskankor. We have a trio, one boy and two girls. They are already laying eggs, so we hope for more additions soon... The latest additions to the family are the Cayuga Ducks (Cayugaankor). These are the colour of mallards heads all over the body. They are truly stunning birds, and the pictures here do not do them justice. Once they are settled and outside they will look a lot better.
