After further checking and researching once we got here, we've been able to change things from when we originally started the move .
Electricity overall in Sweden is around 50/50 split between hydroelectric and nuclear. Figures suggest about 3% of electricity capacity comes from wind. Over time nuclear is due to be phased out and a lot being replaced with windpower and other renewable fuels. As in the UK, we've been able to switch to a 100% renewable supplier that is audited by Svenska Naturskyddsföreningen for their green credentials. As a result we have now managed to kick out the proportion of our electricity coming from nuclear power, so we are genuinely 100% free of "dirty" fuels for all our house energy needs. All heating, lighting & cooking is green.
The cost of this move? A 2 öre per KWH difference in price - or 0.1p per unit. |
